This weekend, the northern edge of Lake City will be home to rowdy bulls, bucking broncs and plenty of competition.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday, Honey Creek Rodeo will team up with the Top Rail Saddle Club for the second annual Chris Thompson Memorial Bull Ride, held at TRSC Rodeo Grounds in Lake City.
A variety of events will be on show including bulls, saddle broncs, bareback broncs, barrel racing, goat tying and breakaway roping. Goat tying and breakaway roping will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
At 10 a.m. on Sunday, a cowboy church service will be held in the arena.
The winner of the open event will receive a commemorative belt buckle dedicated to the late Chris Thompson.
Thompson was a firefighter who served on the Lanesboro, Glidden and Lake City Fire Departments. He passed away tragically on July 14, 2021.
Concessions are provided by TRSC.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle during Saturday night's rodeo, and proceeds will go toward the Chris Thompson Memorial Scholarship.
