One fatality, multiple injuries in Iowa Lakes Baseball Team bus crash
Calhoun County, Iowa — February 11, 2026
A bus carrying members of the Iowa Lakes Community College baseball team was involved in a fatal crash Wednesday morning on Iowa Highway 4 near Twin Lakes in Calhoun County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the bus left the roadway and overturned late Wednesday morning along the stretch of Highway 4 commonly known by area residents as the Jolley curves, just north of Twin Lakes. There were 33 people on board at the time of the crash.
Authorities have confirmed that one person died as a result of the accident. The remaining passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. Multiple area ambulance services responded, and several individuals were transported by medical helicopter to regional hospitals. Others were taken by ground ambulance to facilities in Fort Dodge and surrounding communities.
Highway 4 was closed for several hours between County Road D26 and Iowa Highway 7 as emergency crews worked the scene and investigators began assessing the crash. The roadway reopened later in the day.
Wednesday’s crash drew a large response from law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical teams across Calhoun County and neighboring communities.
Officials have stated that only the bus was involved in the incident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
Iowa Lakes Community College officials have indicated they are working to support students, staff, and families affected by the crash. Additional information is expected as the investigation continues.
