With the summer sports season at its end, awards must be handed off and recognition must be had. For the South Central Calhoun baseball and softball teams, there were quite a few honorifics to go around.

In a recent release made by Twin Lakes Conference commissioner Mark Schaefer, four Titan players and one SCC coach earned accolades. Both squads also earned Team Distinguished Academic Achievement awards.

The Titan baseball program enjoyed a plus-six differential in 2022, going 7-13 overall and pushing into the Class 2A-District 2 Quarterfinals.

They were paced by freshman Andrew Anderson, who gained Honorable Mention in the All-TLC team and a spot on the All-District's Second Team. Teammate Kaden Dorman also picked up honorable mention within the league.

Andrew Anderson racked up 27 hits, four of which were doubles, and tallied 13 RBIs. Anderson had 13 stolen bases, went 2-3 on the mound and fanned 50 batters in eight games.

Dorman accumulated 32 hits, which included four doubles and a triple. Along with bringing in 19 RBIs, Dorman stole six bases and was credited with save while on the mound.

SCC coach Trevor Simmons also got plenty of love from his peers, as he was selected as an All-District Assistant Coach.

Despite a 2-14 season, the SCC softball team had generated some positivity with junior Keira Hammen reeling in First Team All-Conference honors alongside senior Emma Anderson's placement on the All-TLC Second Team.

Hammen proved why she is one of the best sluggers in the area, amassing 31 RBIs, nine dingers and three doubles in 25 hits.

Emma Anderson, who was in the running for being among Iowa's best catchers, hauled in 25 hits. Of those hits, Emma dished up 10 doubles, 14 singles and one homer. She also logged nine RBIs during her final season in an SCC uniform.
