Calhoun County Republicans host annual picnic

The Calhoun County Iowa Republicans hosted their annual picnic in Manson on Aug. 20, 2025. The event brought together several candidates for the 2026 election, including gubernatorial candidates Eddie Andrews, Brad Sherman, and Mike Bousselot.
Middle schoolers visit D.C., pay tribute to local fallen heroes
In mid-July, 37 middle schoolers, along with several adult chaperones, visited Washington, D.C. The trip was open to sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, and was arranged independently through World Classrooms, a student tour company.

South Central Calhoun welcomed students and their families at the annual back-to-school open houses on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event took place across all three district buildings, providing an opportunity for families to prepare for the upcoming school year.
