A dozen times each year, members of Lake City’s VFW Post 1899 carry out a special tradition. These men get together and hang flags throughout the city on certain holidays and days of military observances. It’s their way of honoring their fellow veterans, and our fallen heroes.
For the 16th year, Macke Motors of Lake City has received the Mark of Excellence Award. General Motors gives the award to dealers who demonstrate high levels of customer satisfaction.
Jazz has been called “the power of now.” This energetic spirit is alive in Lake City, Iowa, which is hosting the Jazzed Up Big Band on Aug. 3, 2025, to help raise funds to restore the iconic bandstand in the historic town square.
