The South Central Calhoun girls wrestling team placed eighth out of twenty-two teams on Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Audubon Girls Wrestling Tournament.

Growing up in Rockwell City, basketball wasn’t just a sport for Haley (Birks) Kollasch — it was part of everyday life. Her father, Dave Birks, coached the Rockwell City-Lytton girls basketball team, a powerhouse program that finished as the Class 1A state runner-up in 2003 and captured the state title the following year. For Kollasch, those years planted the earliest seeds of her love for the game.

Titans recognized with postseason and team honors
The South Central Calhoun football team wrapped up its 2025 season with a 4-5 record and a third-place finish in the Class 1A District 2 standings. The Titans’ playoff run came to an end in the first round against Underwood, but several players earned recognition for their performances both from the district and within the program.
