At the Rockwell City City Council meeting on Monday, Jan. 5, council members voted unanimously to accept ownership of 139 N. Elm St., which was gifted to the city by the owners.
Lohrville City Council held a special meeting followed by a budget session on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at City Hall.
The sole topic of the 10-minute special meeting was the Lohrville Spray Pad. Council members who were present unanimously voted in favor of committing a cash contribution of $5,000 to the project.
The halls of South Central Calhoun’s three schools are filled with dedicated staff members who support and educate the district’s students. In an effort to recognize those who have gone above and beyond, SCC has implemented a Staff of the Month recognition.
Hunger pangs can make it difficult for young students to concentrate, pay attention, and focus on their studies. To help bridge the hours between lunch and when school gets out for the day, South Central Calhoun Elementary offers all students a daily snack.
On Jan. 1, new restrictions for SNAP benefits went into effect in Iowa. SNAP funds can no longer be used to purchase taxable food items such as pop, certain beverages containing less than 50% juice, candy, and candy-coated items.
